Delivery late and poor customer communication

If you need an order quickly, don't shop here. Ordered some products from Dental Direct, qualified for free shipping which meant standard delivery, to arrive within 2 - 5 days (UK). I waited over a week to allow time for postal system before contacting Dental Direct, just in case there was a postal delay. The customer service person told me that my order hadn't actually been dispatched because some items were out of stock. The reason I give this rating is because they need to have better stock management controls, so customers know if items are out of stock, before ordering. Secondly, if hiccups do occur then they should, as a minimum, contact and update the customer, rather than waiting for the customer to get in touch. I was deciding between two companies, and if I'd known the items were out of stock and that the order would in fact take 2 weeks to arrive, I would have shopped elsewhere. I have fed this back to Dental Direct but my email has not been replied to which just confirms their poor customer communication.
