Rubbish service and very very expensive.
I had a simple enquiry to ask for help re a property matter - there was no ring back after 4 days and then after another telephone enquiry I was told that before I could even speak to a lawyer to see if Irwin Mitchell can help that I would have to deposit £12,000 with them. Crazy What upsets me most is it looked like Irwin Mitchell decided that for whatever reason they didn’t want my business so they ignored the initial enquiry. This has cost me time - if Irwin Mitchell didn’t want to help they could have been upfront and not just delayed and hoped I’d go away. Then when I called again 4 days later and after having explained the whole thing again I was asked to hold and was promptly cut off. No call back so I rang back yet again “sorry we are having trouble with our phones” - really was it so much trouble Irwin Mitchell couldn’t have called me back when they cut me off (I wasn’t sure I heard a snigger in the background)- then to ram home the point - no you can’t speak to a lawyer unless you have paid a deposit of £12,000. I only wanted a quote for the work to issue a property notice that in extreme would take a few hours work. My family and I have been using Thomas Eggar and lately Erwin Mitchell since the 2nd world war we have always paid our bills. Christopher Doman and Tony Edwards would never have treated me or my father or even my grandfather that way - they respected their clients and their clients time and further they never asked for such a large deposit to do such a small amount of work - let alone to charge to quote or at least give me an idea as to how long it might be expected to take them. Greedy, self serving and the client’s interests are not the priority - comes to mind - at no point did I feel looked after.
