Rude and incompetent
I am convinced that this firm is run by a group of cowboys, using strong arm tactics to try to double the fees during the week of completion. I was dealing with Anjana, who even during the best of times, was a nightmare to get in touch with, but the work was getting done. At multiple points during the process, she asked for details regarding the mortgage we were using, however when it came to the week of completion, she mentions that she had proceeded as if this was a cash sale and that the conveyancing fees have now doubled because of the “type of mortgage” I used. Naturally, I didn’t pay and responded in email saying that this was unacceptable, but all I got back was, in essence, “take it or leave it”, so I call to get more clarity, only to have Anjana shout at me, telling me to be quiet and just pay the remaining fees or leave the firm. I escalate the issues to Anjana’s equally incompetent manager, Milena, who says that Anjana is junior and stressed (maybe not the right line of work then?) but then proceeds to do absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. I ended up having to leave the firm and get another firm on board, whilst having to placate the vendors who now thought we were taking the mic as we were now restarting the conveyancing process (with WHN solicitors - highly recommend) I raised a formal complaint about Anjana’s actions, but it shouldn’t surprise me that I have not heard anything back about this. On top of that, I was later contacted saying that I overpaid for some of the searches and was due a refund for the excess, which I still haven’t received.
