Extremely unethical and fraudulent…
Extremely unethical and fraudulent company. I have screenshots/proof of everything, but I rented a small house in Dunedin for $1600 a month + utilities. Great Jones Realty: 1. Lied about the presence of essential appliances. 2. Illegally withdrew $800 from my checking account without my permission in addition to my last months rent to "hold onto like an extra security deposit"- in addition to my $1600 deposit. 3. Refused to return the funds before move-out (funds were returned after a letter from my attorney, as this practice is illegal in Florida) 4. Advertised the house as having a washer/dryer. Realtor advised me in writing that there was a W/D in the garage. I made it clear it that having one was essential (I'm a doctor and wear scrubs to work- I need to do laundry). 5. I notice the W/D is not in garage during my move-in walkthrough. I was told the owner was having them replaced. Move in, months pass with me doing laundry several times per week at a friends house. 6. I discover there aren't even W/D hookups. A few more months pass while they "investigate" and I am told adding hookups for W/D was too expensive, and the owner decided not to. 7. I'm then told the house was never advertised as having a W/D and no one told me it did (in the same email chain where they tell me the owner is having it replaced!.....) 8. I submit proof in the form of multiple text messages, emails, as well as the original listing all stating clearly that W/D is included. 9. Unable to get a reply from them, I've had enough and tell them that if they're not going to install a W/D I need to find another place to live. 10. Am told that if I do so, I will be charged my remaining rent in full ($16,000+). They wouldn't even let me walk away. After the attorney's letter my deposit + the illegally debited amount was refunded, but their behavior is utterly dishonest and the management is useless. The kicker? After I moved out I see the house advertised for rent. The ad states washer and dryer are included! Avoid this company at all costs.
