Turner & George – Follow-up review…
After one month and two bad online reviews (on Google and Trustpilot), someone called ‘Danny’ contacted me, making all kinds of promises. Firstly he offered and secured us a full refund …it took a while, but I’m happy to say we got it eventually. He also made a supermarket-style offer to send us the whole £130 order all over again (free of charge), to ‘prove a point’ and ‘convince us that T&G usually do much better’ We cautiously-yet-gratefully accepted his offer. However, it all just ended up being a pointless, hollow, unfulfilled promise on his part, as after many weeks and many ping-ponged emails we never received the order. Danny gave us an explanation that the new order was ‘destroyed’ as their delivery company let them down and kept the meat too long. He then bizarrely offered us a £150 T&G voucher and urged us to make several small orders. Not surprisingly — by this point — we never received this voucher and Danny started ignoring my emails. I asked why small orders would be any different, but got no reply. I also did some research and suggested a much better national delivery company (with refrigerated vans) and sent photos and details of much superior polystyrene chill-boxes and dry-ice chill-packs which other online butchers use …that all got ignored too. I’m not sure why this butcher wasted so much time with all these fake promises. Or if Danny is just some young, cocky marketing type who was making flashy promises that the actual Butcher side of the business was not prepared to honour. At the end of the day, our original £130 order arrived full of rotten meat, I took ill trying to stupidly eat a little bit of it (see original review) and T&G wasted everyone’s time, including their own. All they achieved was delaying my temptation to report them to the Food Standards Agency …which would be fair considering the grey, rotting, slimy meat they sent and my resulting illness. The whole thing is just so utterly disappointing from a butcher who I was convinced (initially) were a major cut above the rest …and had my experience been like other peoples, I would have easily spent £750+ per year on their meat — although, I see that over the course of the year that the negative reviews are sadly stacking-up.
