Vehicles For Veterans

Not wonderful Customer Service, follow up or the documents we were promised
In early December of 2023, we had three vehicles, two of which were junkers but one was in good shape. My husband wanted to sell them all on our own but since we had since replaced the vehicles, I wanted them gone. I almost called Cars4Kids for at least the two junkers, since I always hear their ads, but I am a Girl Scout leader and we send care packages overseas to veterans serving far from home so I really wanted to support the Veterans. When I spoke with a representative, I was told that since one of the vehicles was worth quite a bit more money, we would receive a document that we would sign that would allow for us to receive a higher tax deduction beyond the $500. per vehicle standard deduction, once the vehicle was sold. I was in NY taking care of a family member. My husband was home the day the three vehicles were picked up and he was never given the tax paperwork we needed to sign that we had been promised. After I called, a VehiclesForVeteran's rep, Fed-Ex'd me a copy of our donation receipt but not the document they said I needed to sign, which was a total waste of supposed money to overnight me a document they emailed me. I called back multiple times and was pretty much blown off after that. In the last three years we had five significant deaths in my family and I am the Executrix for four of them. So despite the vehicle issue being a financial factor for us and a definitely needed tax deduction, I didn't have the time or emotional energy to continue to have to follow up when someone on their end couldn't bother to actually do their job!! On 3/11/24 I received a preliminary copy of the tax document for 1 of the vehicles and yesterday I'm not sure why, I received this survey. I don't know what they expected me to say but I am NOT happy with the follow up from this organization so I probably will donate future vehicles to other organization when the time comes.
