Lazy and careless.
We first encountered PLS solicitors in 2014 when we were buying our new build property and were made to use them by Jones Homes property developers. We knew then that they were pretty rubbish, given how much we had to chase them. Constantly being ignored, being sent out a standard contract with someone else’s details written in the ‘fill here’ boxes and then almost losing us our house because they took so long to get their act together that our mortgage offer almost ran out. Today however, they outdid themselves. After 9 years of living in our property, we are now in the processing of selling and moving. Our current (and highly recommended) solicitor has asked for a copy of our NHBC insurance certificate. We thought we’d sent it to her already, as it was the only document we’d ever received in regards to NHBC. Turns out it was just a cover letter as, in our young ignorance, we didn’t know that it wasn’t the official documentation and we trusted them to have handed everything over - our mistake! We called NHBC today to request a copy of the certificate, to be told that our solicitor (from PLS) was supposed to have activated our policy upon completion of our house sale, but he never did! Thankfully, we were able to do this over the phone with NHBC ourselves. Just 9 years later… We don’t recommend PLS at all, but if anyone does need a good solicitor Aaron & Partners (Chester and Shrewsbury) are spot on and know exactly what they are doing. EDIT: PLS Solicitors have, since this review, been in touch to apologise for the errors made. I appreciate this and was reassured to hear the solicitor assigned to us no longer works for them.
