Disappointed in Great Jones Property Management
My husband and I inquired about a property in Apollo Beach, Florida which was unavailable for viewing at the present time. We contacted Great Jones and asked to speak with a leasing agent and we were told that someone would call us within 48 hours. We did not receive a return phone call but did receive an email about ten days later that the property was ready to view. We were given an entry code to the property, the house was what we needed for our family although it was unclean. The carpet was dirty, the walls needed to be painted, wires were hanging out of the bedroom walls, the upstairs balcony had something spilled on it and the garage smelled. We went ahead and paid to complete an application thinking the property would be cleaned before a new tenant could move in. Within 24 hours we received a text that the property already had an application pending. When I called customer service to inquire as to why a notification did not appear on the rental application before I paid the fee, I was told we could apply the fee to another property and it was non-refundable. I have no problem paying a fee if my application is considered or under review. What I do think is wrong is that my money was accepted when the property already had an application pending. That is not how the process works. If in fact a property already has an application pending another interested party should not be able to submit funds. This is accepting a payment under false pretenses. I am very disappointed because I think that because the rental market is very competitive in our area this, company thinks it is alright to treat potential tenants so poorly.
